Research
Dean moved to New Zealand in 2002 having worked at University of Natal and King Edward V111 Hospital.He has Fellowships from the College of Medicine in South Africa as well as RANZCOG here in New Zealand.Dean is the 5th yr Teaching Convenor and contributes to the teaching of the Diploma of Obstetrics.Research interests:
- Outcomes of endometrial cancer in Maori and non-Maori women
- Outcomes in HrHPV positive women with low grade cervical smears and normal or low grade initial colposcopy results. The summer studentship student obtained a study grant from the NZ Cancer Society (Wellington).
- The impact of introduction of fetal scalp lactate testing and regular CTG review meetings on the rate of emergency cesarean section rates at Wellington Women’s Hospital. Mentor to Dr Riki Anderson (Wellington) for her RANZCOG registrar study.
