Research

Fiona Hood is a research fellow interested in setting up and delivering studies of human participants ranging from randomised controlled trials to qualitative perspectives. The majority of her current projects within the Department relate to the lifestyle management of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Her current projects include:

  • The Healthy Heart Study, a trial providing free healthy groceries to adults recovering from a heart attack
  • The Big Grain Study, a trial providing free wholegrain foods to those with T2 diabetes
  • Te Kāika DiRECT, a trial of the DiRECT weight loss protocol in adults with T2 diabetes
  • Understanding dietary change, a qualitative assessment of barriers and enablers when moving to healthier dietary intakes.
