The Riddet Institute is a national and international network made up of world-leading researchers in the fields of food and nutrition. Recently the Institute has been refunded as a New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE).

Four EDOR researchers currently collaborate with the Riddet Institute on a number of research projects. One of the Institutes' strategic priorities is to contribute towards the prevention and management of lifestyle diseases, which fits well with the mission of the Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research Centre.

Professors Jim Mann and Gerald Tannock are both CoRE Principal Investigators with the Riddet Institute.

Associate Professor Lisa Te Morenga is a Principal Investigator and also a member of the Research Leadership Group. Her Riddet work has focused on the effects of wholegrain structure on glycemic responses in people with and without diabetes.

Dr Andrew Reynolds is an Associate Investigator involved in a number of completed and ongoing research projects on dietary carbohydrates and fats, including the wholegrain project.

The new tranche of CoRE funding, which starts later this year, will enable a number of new collaborative projects to be commenced.
