MicroRNAs are short noncoding RNAs responsible for post-transcriptional control of gene expression.
They are dysregulated in tumour cells, contributing to all of the hallmarks of cancer. In malignant mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos exposure, multiple tumour suppressor microRNAs are downregulated.
This project will investigate the role of miR-625 in the biology of mesothelioma and in particular, response of this tumour to chemotherapy.
