Overview

PhD candidates are being recruited to join the Christchurch Clinical Pharmacology Research Group, University of Otago, Christchurch.
The Clinical Pharmacology Research Group includes staff from the Clinical Pharmacology Department at Christchurch Hospital, the Drug Information Service and Drug Utilisation Review Service.
The main research focus for the group is on the clinical application of pharmacology knowledge.
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated students to do their PhD, or other postgraduate degree.

Potential topics include:

  • Informatics/pharmacoepidemiology: clinical questions addressed using large regional data sets.
  • Pharmacogenetics: of adverse drug reactions; of drug exposure; of drug response.
  • Pharmacokinetics: e.g. drug cocktail studies of the effects of disease or drugs on drug metabolism.
  • Quality Use of Medicines: e.g. implementation of clinical decision support in electronic prescribing systems.

Applicants must be eligible for admission to the PhD programme at the University of Otago.

Whether you are a domestic or an international student, the University of Otago has a range of Doctoral Scholarships available to you.

If you are a straight A student (GPA of 8 – 'A' grade) or higher, who has completed an Honours or Master's degree with an appropriate research component from a New Zealand university then you are likely to be guaranteed a University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship.
