About Brigid

Brigid joined HEDC in July 2015 on secondment from her role as Leader of Teaching and Learning at Otago Business School. She provides learning advice and support for undergraduate and postgraduate students with a focus on Commerce students. She also provides advice to academic programme leaders and course coordinators on student learning outcomes, teaching and learning, and assessment practices.

Brigid is currently leading a cross-disciplinary research project investigating undergraduate student numeracy and piloting support programmes aimed at improving student numeracy and literacy. Her interests also include the first year student transition, academic identity, student advising, and education strategy.

Brigid has a background in business leadership and entrepreneurship in the food manufacturing, tourism, and hospitality sectors. She has a range of experience in education and consulting in the tertiary sector, as well as industry organisations. She has designed and taught courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels; including innovative programmes on service quality management, strategic planning, sustainable business practice, and enterprise development for professional practitioners.
