About Kelby

Photo of Kelby Smith-HanKelby’s research focuses on the process of how medical students become doctors through interacting with the formal, informal and hidden curriculum. Specifically, this includes the socialisation of medical students, professional identity formation, the clinical experience of medical students, medical humanities, career choice, and experiential learning. He uses several research methods and analyses including Foucauldian discourse analysis, thematic analysis, grounded theory analysis, narrative research, survey research and mixed method approaches.
