A new Classics paper CLAS330 Special Topic: Elections in Roman and Modern Times, will be offered on campus and by distance, with lecturers Dr Gwynaeth McIntyre (Classics), and Dr Chris Rudd (Politics), in a pre-Christmas Summer School.
This paper offers students a broad overview of Roman electoral system and how many of its features are present in today’s democratic systems. Students will examine and evaluate the defining features of democracy through a study of electoral candidates, voters, and campaign strategies.
Majors and Minors of either Classics or Politics can count this paper towards their respective programmes.
Pre-Christmas Summer School runs from 11th November until 13th December. Exams on 14th December.
