Are you interested in learning about polemical topics in the Latin American narrative? This paper discusses the phenomenon of machismo and its literary consequences for female characters; the discourses of sexuality in conservative societies; the sexual and racial diversity in the Latin American narrative; religious discourse; and the commercial and political implications of death.

Paper Structure
This paper is an analysis of various forms of narrative, from the early 20th century to the present day. Concepts such as intertextuality, enunciation, citation, communicative competence and subaltern studies will be used to discuss gender roles in the texts.
