Practical work in developing the skills necessary for composing and revising poetry.

The paper is run on a workshop basis. Students are set weekly reading and writing exercises, and their work is discussed with fellow students and the course co-ordinator.

Paper Structure
Exercises in forms ranging from the traditional to the experimental will be set weekly, with students writing their own work for class discussion.

Students submit two portfolios for assessment:
  • The first of five poems
  • The second of a maximum of ten poems for assessment
There is no exam.
Teaching Arrangements
The workshop has one convenor with occasional guest speakers from the Dunedin writing community.

Textbooks are not required for this paper
