In special circumstances, leave without pay may be approved. If leave without pay is due to illness, you should discuss this with your Manager or Divisional HR Manager/HR Adviser to determine how best to accommodate your absence.

Applying for leave without pay

To request leave without pay, you need to complete the below online form.

Approval of leave without pay is made as follows:

Timeframe Approval Required
Up to twelve months Divisional Head (on recommendation of HOD) except for Health Sciences Division

Deans (for Health Sciences Division)

Twelve months and over Staffing Advisory Committee (on recommendation of Divisional Head, Dean (if applicable) and HOD)
