Get connected – we maintain valuable links with industry

Our experts can be found working with professional groups, local community bodies, business organisations – and more. We are actively involved in business and education at the local level, and provide input through teaching and research at national and international levels.

How could industry links benefit my organisation?

Department of Information Science staff are involved with industry at all levels.

Participation at the local level

Could your Dunedin-based business benefit from the knowledge and support of staff from the Department?

We are proud to contribute actively to the local business scene. Staff currently hold appointments on various boards and committees in the Dunedin area. We also assist a number of businesses and organisations through research, and have informal links with business and trade bodies.

Please contact us with any projects you think might be of mutual benefit to you and the Department.

Participation at the national and international levels

Our staff give invited presentations to industry groups and participate in research projects at the national level. Internationally, staff work on research collaborations and serve as journal editors, reviewers, and committee members.

We are always open to further research collaboration.

Please contact us with any projects you think might be of mutual benefit to you and the Department.

How can my organisation work together with a student?

Today's students are future industry experts – but they need experience as well as education to get them there.

Could your business or organisation benefit from the assistance of a diligent and motivated student?

Final year student project

Get a student team to work on your project. Our INFO312 students are required to collaborate in the development of a systems prototype, as part of their studies. The project is aimed at developing information systems for solving real practical problems in the business world.

Please contact us with any projects you think might be suitable as a student project.

Student internships

Hire a student intern – and get a fresh perspective for your business. Information Science interns offer a range of technical skills, and have an excellent understanding of the ways in which organisations use information. Information Science is useful in practically any field of business.

Please contact us with any queries regarding how an Information Science student or intern could help your business.
