Title: Interdisciplinarity: Charting it to allow for more responsive research systems
Location: Owheo G34
Date & Time: Friday 26th July, 1pm
In this seminar, we will discuss a budding research program on interdisciplinarity. Resting on a history of segmentation and specialisation of research, many research systems, such as individual authors, departments, journals, and conferences, are defined by discipline. Arguably, greater interdisciplinarity of research systems can enhance their capability to address the complex and systemic challenges that define our increasingly connected world. Our program aims to leverage data on research, including bibliometric data, to measure and map interdisciplinarity, to see where it comes from, where it is successful, and what we can do to benefit from it.
