The Inter-College Competition/Tauwhāinga Kāreti is a world-leading sport, cultural and games programme run for first-year residential college students.
With 30 events across Sport, Cultural and Games Competitions throughout the duration of the academic year, there is sure to be something for everyone! The Inter-College Competition is designed to enhance the University experience whilst providing the opportunity for students to gain greater rangatiratanga/leadership, mahi ngātahi/teamwork, and matatika te tākaro/fair play qualities.
If you love it so much you can't give it up at the end of your first year, we have plenty of opportunities available for alumni to stay involved.
The Inter-College Competition is grounded in the value of Whākawhānaukataka. A mana enhancing concept and value that enables students to create connections and a sense of belonging (tūrangawaewae) fostering each student's personal growth by helping them create a balanced first-year experience. This competition allows students to interact not only with their own college but with the wider collegiate community. It allows students to create social connection in an aim to enhance relationships beyond the four walls of their college.
