Exchange experiences

The University, City & Region

The University

University of AarhusThe University of Aarhus was founded in 1928 and it has a long tradition of offering broad and internationally recognized research and education.

The study environment at the university is concentrated around an attractive campus in the centre of the city of Aarhus, and the university plays a decisive - and essential - role at the hub of the city.

The University of Aarhus offers many courses taught in English, so exchange students have a wide range to choose from. A Danish university education requires self-discipline. This is mainly due to the fact that in most courses, students are not evaluated during the semester. Often, the final exam or paper is worth 100% of the course mark. Thus, it is up to the individual student to get the most out of what is offered - another reason why study groups play an important role within the system.

The City of Aarhus & Region

Aarhus UniversityAarhus is the second largest city in Denmark.

Aarhus is centrally located in relation to the rest of Denmark and Northern Europe. The city is close to a variety of natural environments, with beaches and forests to the North and South, a lake district with a rich animal and bird life to the West, and the Bay of Aarhus, to the East. The city hosts around 35,000 students of higher education, making Aarhus a young and vibrant city. Within the city are numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants, a flourishing jazz and rock scene, museums, Art Galleries, and the Aarhus Concert Hall.
