With more than 19,000 students in seven diverse Faculties, Brock University offers an academic experience that's second to none. Brock is located atop the Niagara Escarpment. This positions our campus in a beautiful natural setting featuring a diverse ecosystem and stunning views. In fact, Brock's location is so special that it has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Close to Toronto and the American border, Brock has a worldly feel within a welcoming Ontario community.

Nigara is one of Canada's most unique regions, a diverse collection of communities, connected by rural landscapes and unspoiled nature, and bordered by two Great Lakes, the mighty Niagara River, and New York State. From the thriving downtown St Catharines arts scene, to the culture of Niagara-on-the-Lake, to vineyards and farmers markets, to the mighty Niagara Falls, the Niagara experience is like no other.

Exchange information

  • Undergraduate level exchange only.
  • Suitable destination for Humanities and Sciences students, and Tourism majors (BCom).
  • Academic Year: September - April (Winter Term: January - April; Fall Term: September - December).
  • Minimum course load: 3 courses per semester; maximum course load: 5 courses per semester (or 2.5 credits).
  • Course progression system: 100 level (i.e 1P00) = introductory; 200 level and 300 level (i.e. 2P00 or 3P00) = intermediate; 400 level (i.e. 4P00) = advanced; 500 level (i.e. 5P00) = Graduate.
  • Workload: Semester courses are worth 0.5 credits. This constitutes 36 - 54 contact hours. Full year courses are worth 1.0 credits, which constitutes about 72 - 108 contact hours. Independent work hours are also added to this, but are not included in the overall hour calculation. Independent work required will differ from course to course.
  • Courses restricted to exchange students: Co-op/Internship courses; Game Program (BTGD; Early Childhood Education (EDBE); Level 4 English and English/Creative Writing (ENGL+ENCW/WRDS); Film Production (FLIC); Child and Youth Studies (CHYS) and Level 3+4 Accounting (ACTG).
  • One of Brock's highlights is its Tourism and Environment programme. Students will study courses such as sustainability, environment and tourism, tourist behaviour, nature-based tourism, economics of the environment, as well as functional management for sustainable tourism.
  • It is highly advised that students wanting to go on exchange in January apply as early as possible (by mid-April). There is only one course registration period at Brock in June, courses can fill up quickly and limit any students who apply later.
