Course Load and Minimum Unit Requirements
A one-credit course requires from a student about 80 hours of work, including time spent in the classroom. A one-credit course typically consists of around 20 class sessions (each session of 75 minutes).
Accommodation & the Cost of Living
Accommodation
The campus is residential. Students stay in furnished single on-campus rooms in single gender dorms. The dorms have ten rooms on each floor arranged around a stairway and a tearoom. Stay in the dormitories is compulsory for students. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are served. The rooms are fully furnished including a telephone connection. The dorms also have a T.V., washing machine and refrigerator.
Estimated Cost of Living
Students should plan to pay approximately INR 1,00,000 per term for accommodation, library, computing facilities, student welfare, books and course material.
The average food and living expenses can range from INR 10,000 – 15,000 per month.

The University
The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad or IIM-A) is a public business school located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It was the second Indian Institute of Management (IIM) to be established, after IIM Calcutta. It is the "world’s toughest business school to get into", on the basis of its acceptance rate (0.25%). It is consistently ranked as one of the leading business schools in India and the Asia-Pacific region.
The City and Region
Ahmedabad is the largest city and former capital of Gujarat. With a population of more than 6.3 million it is the sixth largest city in India. Ahmedabad is located on the banks of the Sabarmati River, 30 km from the state capital Gandhinagar.
Ahmedabad has emerged as an important economic and industrial hub in India. It is the second largest producer of cotton in India, and its stock exchange is the country's second oldest. Cricket is a popular sport in Ahmedabad, which houses the 54,000-seat Sardar Patel Stadium. Ahmedabad observes a wide range of festivals throughout the year. There are many restaurants, which serve a wide array of Indian and international cuisines, and a number of museums.
