Exchange Experiences

The University, City and Region

The University

The name Universidade Nova de Lisboa stands for creativity and innovation. Founded in 1978, the University leads Portugal in the teaching and research of Economics and Management. The buildings that house the School are of historical significance. The University is not confined to one single campus. Its five faculties and four University Institutes are located in various sites in and outside Lisbon. The buildings for the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Institute for Statistics and Information Management, Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, School of Public Health and the Rectory, are located in several places in the city.

The City of Lisbon

Lisbon lies on the north bank of the Tagus Estuary and is the westernmost city in continental Europe. Inhabited by about 2 million people, Lisbon retains its personal touch while showing all the signs of openness to the world. Its mild winters and long summers cooled by the Atlantic breeze provide the perfect conditions to enjoy all that is on offer.
