Accommodation & the Cost of Living

Accommodation

Fushan and Yushan campuses have International Dormitories
Each room is equipped with Air Conditioning, Phone, TV, Private bathroom, Internet and basic Furniture. Quilts and bedding are also provided.

Estimated Cost of Living

Food and living necessities cost RMB 1,200 – 2500, which depends on individual lifestyle.

The University, City & Region

The University

Ocean1Under the direct administration of the State Ministry of Education, Ocean University of China (OUC) is a comprehensive university with its strength in oceanography and fisheries science. OUC offers courses in Science, Engineering, Agronomy (Fisheries), Economics, Liberal Arts, Pharmaceutics, Management, Law, and Education. OUC has been approved as one of the national key universities with “Project 985” and “Project 211”.
Currently OUC has three campuses including Yushan campus, Fushan campus and Laoshan campus. There are over 22 colleges and departments with 71 undergraduate programs.

OUC is now offering a large range of programs to international students, including some tailor-made programs. Each year more than 1300 international students from over 50 countries pursue their studies at Ocean University.

The City and Region

Ocean2Qingdao, the host city for the 29th Olympic Sailing Regatta in 2008, is a coastal city seated with the Yellow Sea on the east and south, and faces North Korea, South Korea and Japan across the sea. The population of Qingdao totals more than 7 million, while the urban population is more than 2 million.
The city is known as a summer resort with a rich historical background and natural beauty. The landscape of Qingdao is often described as “The Pearl on the Crown of the Yellow Sea”.
There are many tourist attractions in Qingdao, including Mount Lao Shan, bathing beaches and buildings in European and Japanese styles. Many events, such as the Qingdao Foreign Economy and Trade Fair, the Qingdao International Beer Festival, the Love of Sea Festival, the Cherry-blossom Festival and Summer of Qingdao (Art Festival) are held annually, entertaining thousands of domestic and overseas visitors.
Qingdao is a major city for finance and foreign trade in Shandong province as well. Some of the local companies, such as Haier, Hisense, Tsingtao Brewery and Aucma, are widely recognized.
