Services Affected: Authentication for wired network, and UO_WIFI and UO_Guest wireless networks at all locations

Timeframe: Saturday, 08 October 2022, 10:00am to 10:00pm

Audience: All Staff and Students

Description: During the given timeframe we will be performing an upgrade of the Identity Services Engine (ISE) servers that handle authentication for the wired network, the wireless networks, and the VPN service.

This work is a continuation of the previous attempt to perform this migration back in August 2022 which had to be rolled back.

This migration will include an upgrade of the ISE software to resolve security and operational issues, and will also involve commissioning new servers to increase the reliability and performance of network authentication services. This aspect of the upgrade is hoped to improve performance of the network during the period of peak load during the end of year final examination period.

Important: This migration has been structured to minimise interruption of authentication and access to network services. However it is possible that there may be small interruptions of network connectivity (wired and wireless) where devices may ask you to re-authenticate to the network, or logging into the network may take longer than usual.
