Information: Zoom Cloud Recording

Information: Zoom Cloud Recording

Timeframe: from Monday, 05 February 2018

Services Affected: Zoom

Audience: All Zoom account holders

Description: ITS eConferencing is pleased to announce the addition of cloud recording to your Zoom meetings.

You now have an option to enable cloud recording on your own Zoom account, in addition to the existing “local” recording functionality. Once you have enabled cloud recording on your account you will be given the choice to record to the computer (being the normal way) or to the cloud, when you click the record button in your meeting. If you select record to the cloud the video, audio and chat text are recorded to the Zoom servers which can then be downloaded and shared later. If you record to your computer it will record a file straight into a folder named Zoom in your documents.

To enable the cloud recording option on your account you will need to login to your Zoom account on your browser and go to your Meeting Settings tab on the side bar - please follow our help guide at: https://blogs.otago.ac.nz/zoom/how-to-enable-cloud-recording/

If you choose to use cloud recording please ensure you download and save your recorded files from the cloud within 7 days as they will be auto deleted after this time. This is to assist us in managing a large volume of recordings and to ensure we do not go over the allocated storage space provided by Zoom for the University. Follow our guide to downloading your recordings at https://blogs.otago.ac.nz/zoom/downloading-sharing-cloud-recordings/

If you have any questions regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact the eConferencing team on (03 479) 5167 or email econferencing@otago.ac.nz
