RESOLVED: Access Disruption - Off-Campus access to Applications

Access to some University resources has been disabled as a temporary measure while a cybersecurity vulnerability is addressed. This only affects access from the internet. Users on campus and those using the University VPN are not impacted. Users of the affected service are being directed to this service notice.

This issue is not expected to be resolved until after the weekend of 19th/20th May 2018 when a system upgrade will be performed.

Services affected include

  • Taleo (job applications) - Staff applying for jobs should refer to the instructions further on in this notice
  • Red Carpet (onboarding)
  • MyResearch (PBRF)
  • Corporate Apps
  • CMS web content contribution
  • Password resets
  • Other services using Waharoa

Key services not affected are

  • eVision
  • Blackboard
  • Staff Web Kiosk
  • Staff and Student Email
  • Casper

Staff who require access to the disabled services from off-campus will need to use the University VPN service. All staff have been authorised to use this service and instructions on installing the software are available at https://its-faq.otago.ac.nz/index.php?action=show&cat=345.

MyResearch (PBRF)

Staff who are updating their portfolios from off campus will need to use the University VPN service. Refer to the above VPN instructions for details. Contact the ITS Service Desk for assistance with the VPN. Questions regarding PBRF can be made to the PBRF and Publications Office (publications@otago.ac.nz).

Staff applying for jobs

Staff applying for jobs within the University must log into the recruitment system (Taleo) to ensure the best application process. Due to the access restrictions currently in place the following options are suggested.

  1. Complete the job application while on campus
  2. Install the VPN client and use that to connect to the University network from home. (refer to the VPN instructions above)

If you have any questions or issues while applying for positions then please contact the HR recruitment team.
