Alert: Oracle Identity Management (OIM) - Changes and Potential Issues

During the weekend of 18 – 21 May 2018, the Oracle Identity Management (OIM) system was upgraded.  This email is highlighting changes and potential issues to be aware of.

There will be changes around initial passwords and passwords that are manually reset by the University on behalf of the user:

1. Initial passwords provided via the text service will expire after 7 days if they are not changed.  If a user’s initial password does expire, they need to have their password manually reset by the ITS Service Desk/AskOtago.

2. Initial and manually-reset passwords (by the University on behalf of the user) must be changed by the users BEFORE they will successfully log into any application using their University username and password.   To do this, the user must go to 

Logging in issues

1. An error may occur when logging into the Waharoa login page for Corporate Applications such as MyResearch, BlackboardStaff, and HR’s Taleo recruitment system for the first time after the upgrade.  This is an example of the error from Chrome (but it will happen in any browser, although the exact error message may vary slightly)

Try clearing your cookies.
To fix this issue, the user needs to clear their browser’s cookies. Contact the ITS Service Desk if you are unsure how to do this.
2. Some of the PDFs on the HR website (e.g. that deal with how to employ staff) contain links such as  There is an issue when you go to Taleo via this type of link and you will get the following error after logging in:

Your request has encountered an unexpected error.
If the problem persists, please contact the ITS Service Desk so that they can resolve the issue.
HR are in the process of updating the affected links on the website, but in the meantime you can use this link instead for access to Taleo.
