Audience: All University of Otago Syncplicity accounts



All Syncplicity users will need to be on the minimum client version for their operating system as listed below, by the first of April 2021. Clients which are not updated will stop synchronising after this date, which may lead to data loss.

Where can I find the latest Syncplicity clients?

The latest Syncplicity clients are available for download on the My Sincplicity website. For release notes click here.


While the Syncplicity client software does require upgrading, it is intended that Syncplicity will be retired sometime in 2021 and all users moved to Microsoft OneDrive. ITS recommends the use of OneDrive for the purpose of making data personally available in the event you need to work from home. If you request a Syncplicity account you will still be migrated to OneDrive at a later date.


What to do instead

If you do not need to share documents with users already using Syncplicity you should use OneDrive.

All staff and students are licensed for Microsoft OneDrive.

You can install OneDrive as part of the office install from

  1. You will be asked to provide your work email address (e.g. – when Microsoft detects your Otago email address it will redirect you to our secure web-based login service.

  2. Enter your University username and password
