CHIN 231 is a continuation of CHIN 132. If you have not completed CHIN132, you may still be able to enrol in this paper if you have acquired basic proficiency in Chinese, by completing a beginner-level Chinese course elsewhere (e.g., in your high school, or in another university) or via other means (e.g., living in China, being exposed to Chinese in a family setting). The development of skills in Chinese language to an intermediate level, with equal emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students will be introduced to basic types and features of Chinese written discourse and cultural themes.

We will study one lesson every 2 weeks. In order to take full advantage of the class interactive lectures, students will do a variety of activities focused on the new vocabulary (peer dictations, character games, etc.).
