Les Delices de la Grand Bretagne, & de L'Irlande

Les Delices de la Grand Bretagne, & de L'Irlande

Although the name Beeverell is a fabrication, the 'Delights of Great Britain and Ireland' has continuing value because of the fine engraved plates by Jan Goeree (1670-1731) and the 'on the spot' information it provides about the inhabitants, their customs, speech, and religion. This first edition was printed by the Leiden mapmaker and publisher Pieter van der Aa, who specialized in topography, travel and natural history. Note the Irish harp in the corner.
