Towards an Appreciation of Literature

Towards an Appreciation of Literature

Michael Francis Xavier O'Donovan (1903–1966) first adopted the pseudonym 'Frank O'Connor' when Russell (AE) published his translation of 'Suibne Geilt Aspires' in the Irish Statesman, 14 March 1925. By this time O'Connor had been in prison, after serving as a courier and propagandist for the Irish Republican Army, and had started a career in librarianship. Deservedly famous for his short stories, his poetry, and his translations from the Irish, Towards an Appreciation of Literature is the distillation of twenty year's experience in the field of Irish literature.
