Alexander Monro (secundus), A Course of Lectures on the Anatomy of the Human Body.
These notes from Secundus' anatomy lectures were written by Dr Gustavus Richard Brown, who, after completing his MD in Edinburgh in 1768, returned to his home in Maryland. Brown's manuscript provides excellent documentary evidence on the set syllabus at that time. He was one of many Americans who came to Edinburgh to study. Indeed, class records of the time reveal that up to thirty students a year came from America to study under the Monros.
