Thomas Donaldson, Original Sketch of the Brain showing the positions of the ventricles, cerebellum and orbital areas, 'Table VII' in Observations on the Structure and Functions of the Nervous System. This original painted sketch is in the hand of Thomas Donaldson and was found loosely tipped into Observations of the Structure and Functions of the Nervous System (1783)at the page with the same printed illustration. Here it is numbered Table V, but was eventually published as Table VII. Fig. 1 shows the anterior or frontal lobe (A), the cerebellum (D) and the corpus striatum (E). Fig. 2 shows the transverse section of the beginning of the spinal cord, with anterior and posterior fissures (A/B) and the spinal cord (E).
