Some of the local Australian artists whose work graced the covers of Horwitz paperbacks included Theo Batten, Peter Chapman, Maurice Bramley and Col Cameron. Indeed, Cameron churned his covers out for Horwitz, claiming they were ‘like sausages’.  Like many artists, he often did not read any of the material prior to beginning a piece of work. Roy Fuller, the then editor of Horwitz, would simply suggest a basic concept or theme for the cover and wait the allotted time (usually a week or two unless a rush job) for the end result.  Here only James Workman’s Goondiwindi cover is signed.
