FigureWork: The Nude and Life Modelling in New Zealand
In 1992, more than half of the manuscripts submitted to the University of Otago Press (UOP) came from those with no direct connection to the University. This trend has continued. Occasionally the Press publishes books derived from academic theses. The Auckland-based researcher Sandra Chesterman submitted a reworking of her 1998 University of Auckland M. Phil Art History thesis "Who will pose in the nood for me?": a study of life modelling and the life model in New Zealand art' for consideration. It was published in 2002 as FigureWork, representing a relatively quick and painless thesis-to-book process.
