Te Waimana The Spring of Mana

Te Waimana The Spring of Mana

In November 1990, McIndoe quoted $6,700 for printing 1000 copies of Jeffrey Sisson's Te Waimana, part of the Press's Te Whenua Series established by the editor Dr Helen Watson White in 1989. The quote included a laminated colour cover, 8-12 leaves for black and white photographs, and the text on 100 gsm paper. The costs actually rose to $8,000 because Sisson eventually posted through a larger manuscript. By February 1991, White received news of a $1,000 subsidy towards it from the Department of Internal Affairs. She had also submitted for Ojinmah's Witi Ihimaera and Ruth Dallas's Curved Horizon, both of which missed out. Te Waimana was finally published in December 1991.
