The Mackenzie Cancer Research Group participated in the Cancer Society's Relay for Life for the fourth year in a row to celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers, remember loved ones lost to cancer and to fight cancer back by raising awareness and funds to support the work of the Cancer Society and cancer research.
Once again we dressed up as superheroes and entered the event as the Mackenzie Marvels, walking around the track at Rolleston for 18 hours, passing over Captain America's shield as our team baton.
Throughout the event we carried around a pedometer and had people guessing the total amount of steps we would take – we achieved impressive 87,000 steps.
We would like to thank everyone who supported our team this year. Over $3000 was donated to the Mackenzie Marvels and the event at Rolleston raised a total of $51,000.
