Background

Christian has a keen interest in open innovation, SME performance measures, financing innovation strategies, and strategic entrepreneurship. Prior to joining University of Otago, he worked as a research assistant in Ghana and South-Korea. Christian graduated top of his MSc class at Gachon University- South-Korea in Global Business and Entrepreneurship. Christian considers himself 1-part nerd, 1-part comedian, 1-part fitness trainer, 1-part Beethoven and 1-part professional feedback giver to SMEs. Too many parts?


Research outline

Christian's research seeks to provide a more profound comprehension of the impact of how financial institutions such as microfinance and crowdfunding can serve as grounds for open innovation that may lead to higher SME performance. Furthermore, his study seeks to add to the scant literature on exploratory and exploitative open innovation, specifically within SME managerial practices on open innovation within developing economies.
