Duration of the Master of Commerce
The Master of Commerce is usually a one year thesis-only degree (subject to having completed a Postgraduate Diploma or Honours).
Occasionally (regulations permitting) a two year postgraduate degree incorporating papers and thesis.
Master of Commerce programme details
The MCom programme provides a sound background of course-work. Then you have the opportunity to contribute to existing fields of research, or to develop new ones. The thesis is expected to demonstrate your mastery of research skills, wide knowledge of relevant literature and ability to use information to fulfil research objectives.
The MCom may be pursued by a combination of papers and a thesis, or by thesis only.
Entry with a good Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification)
Do you have a good Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification)? You will be able to complete the MCom by papers and thesis (at least 2 years full-time). Your first year will consist of a selection of papers worth 120 points, and may be studied as a Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce (PGDipCom).
Entry with an Honours degree with 2(1) or First, or a PGDipCom with Credit or Distinction
Do you have an Honours degree with 2(1) or First, or a PGDipCom with Credit or Distinction? You can complete the MCom by thesis only (minimum one year).
