Prospective Outcomes of Injury Study (POIS)
The Prospective Outcomes of Injury Study (POIS) aims to quantitively determine injury, rehabilitation, personal, social and economic factors leading to disability outcome following injury in New Zealand; and to qualitatively explore peoples lived experiences and perceptions of injury related disability outcomes. Specifically relating to Māori, POIS investigates Māori injury and disability, access to rehabilitation services, and outcomes after injury.
Subsequent Injury Study (SInS)
The Subsequent Injury Study (SInS) aims to contribute to improved outcomes for individuals and populations, and specifically Māori, by identifying the following:
- modifiable risk factors predicting ACC-reported subsequent injury
- participation, health, and disability outcomes
- related costs
These findings are necessary first steps towards developing interventions for injured New Zealanders.
Māori disability outcomes: Pathways and experiences
Led by Associate Professor Emma Wyeth, this project was funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand and aimed to understand the pathways and experiences for Māori who have been hospitalised after injury and the factors contributing to disability outcomes. A key component of this project included working collaboratively with key organisations and personnel to interpret the study's findings and consider developing interventions to reduce the inequities in injury outcomes for Māori.
