Turaka Hou / Māori Orientation

As a 1st year Māori student, you will be sent a pack from the Māori Centre that will contain information about the 1st years Powhiri to welcome you and your whanau to campus (Please note, that you may not receive this if you enrol late, if this is the case, please contact us). The Powhiri is your first opportunity to meet other 1st year Māori students in your field of study and access 1st hand information regarding the support available and know who the key contact staff is who can assist you, in your 1st year of study. We also provide a shuttle service for when you first arrive to Dunedin but you must register for this as soon as possible.

The Māori Centre will have kaumatua available to you for whakapapa endorsements or if you are just wanting to make any whakapapa connections so please call into the Centre during Orientation Week. We will also have a tent at tent city during Orientation Week so be sure to check it out and register your details. There will be daily prizes and Hangi tickets available.
