Nelson region
- tailored programmes and special events

snorkel_boyAny of the education programmes can be extended and tailored to meet the interests of your class. We also run themed programmes and special events – for example the public dissection of a Mako Shark that was washed up, dead, on a local shore some years ago. Stay in touch with us to keep informed! Experiencing Marine Reserves (Mountains to the Sea Education Trust)

This programme begins by teaching the students how to snorkel in the school pool before taking them out to a local rocky coastline to see what is underwater. They learn about the fish and other marine life seen. Then another trip is taken to a local Marine Reserve and the two sites are compared. Our educator helps with this programme run in the Nelson Region. The Experiencing Marine Reserves organiser is Megan Wilson, phone: 027 663 8909.
