Māori have always studied the sea, travelled the sea, and harvested kai from the sea.
Te Tari Pūtaiao Taimoana (the Department of Marine Science) is committed to our relationship with Ngāi Tahu, and to the success of our Māori students. We work together with Ngāi tahu rūnanga Kati Huirapa ki Puketeraki to support customary fisheries decision-making.
Te Tiaki Mahinga Kai is a national network, to which we contribute, dedicated to improving management of marine resources around Aotearoa.
Associate Professor Miles Lamare is our Kaiawhina; it’s his job to help you out. You can email him at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
