Troy Mihaka has a background in small business and non-profit management, specialising in the areas of hospitality and tourism. Troy has worked in this field extensively in New Zealand, Australia and Germany.
Prior to joining the University of Otago in 2021 as an MBA student, Troy worked as a commercial development manager in the arts sector and as a lobbyist for local government issues in Wellington. Troy has previously developed and managed businesses specialising in tourism, literature and lobbying.
Troy was raised in Port Chalmers, the child of a family blending old-Scottish heritage with South Taranaki iwi. A product of both worlds, Troy views his academic pursuits as one method to find bridges spanning the barriers between those spaces.
