Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) – Majoring in Marketing

The BCom is a three-year undergraduate degree. You can major in Marketing, combine it with another major (double major) or complete a double degree. In addition to completing the requirements of your Marketing major, all students starting a BCom must also complete the following core commerce papers.

There is a standard set of papers to be completed by all BCom students, regardless of their major (indicated by the prefix BSNS).

Marketing Minor

A Marketing minor is perfect for students who have decided to study another commerce major or even a non-commerce degree, but would like to enhance this with a good grounding in marketing. A Marketing minor can be taken as part of a BCom, BA, BAppSc, BSc and BTheol and will be formally recognised on your academic transcript.

Popular degree combinations

A BCom majoring in Marketing is a versatile degree that can be combined with a wide range of programmes at the University of Otago.

BCom (double Major)

You can combine your major in Marketing with a major in another commerce subject. This could lead to a double major in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Science, International Business, Management, or Tourism.

Alternatively, you can combine your major in Marketing with a major from almost any other discipline. Some popular double degree combinations are:
