About

Sarah joined the University in 2002 and is currently the Head of Department for Mathematics & Statistics. She is a Fellow of Engineering New Zealand, a member of the Institute of Marine Engineers Science and Technology and both a chartered engineer and a chartered marine engineer in the UK. She is also a member of the New Zealand Mathematical Society, International Environmental Modelling and Software Society and New Zealand Coastal Society.

Teaching responsibilities

Sarah's teaching responsibilities include:

  • MATH 120 Mathematics for Scientists
  • MATS 204 Treasure or Trash: Sustainability of materials
  • EMAN 301 Fluids and Heat Transfer
  • ENVI 111 Environment and Society

Research Interests

Sarah's current research interests are based around using Computational Fluid Dynamics software to predict flows over sand dunes and the interaction of technology and industrial design. She is interested in air/wind interaction with complex geometries as well as sedimentation effects.
