The Otago MBA is the leading MBA programme in New Zealand. It is academically demanding and rigorous, and delivers a solid foundation across all key business areas. With the Otago MBA, you hone your business skills, realise your full potential and advance your career.
The Otago MBA is a two-phase programme which can be undertaken online or on-campus.
In Phase 1, you study 12 core papers covering all the key business areas. For Phase 2, wide choices of specialisations are available through on-campus electives, international exchange, or a business project.
The Otago MBA has international exchange partnerships with about 20 top MBA business schools and universities around the world. These include Duke University Fuqua School of Business and University of North Carolina Kenan-Fagler Business School in the United States. The international exchange is undertaken with no additional tuition fee.
For its small class size which ensures high personalised attention, the Otago MBA punches above its weight as a world class MBA. The programme was ranked the 4th best MBA for Oceania by Eduniversal Best MBA and among the top 250 MBAs worldwide by QS in 2017. The University of Otago Business School is accredited by the two leading international agencies, EQUIS and AACSB.

Otago On-campus Full-time MBA
The Otago on-campus full-time MBA can be completed in 16 months to 2 years depending on your elective choices in Phase 2. Additionally in Phase 1, our professional development activities and mentoring further sharpen the skills needed to succeed in the business world.
For international students who intend to stay in New Zealand to work after graduation, you may be eligible for a work visa under Immigration New Zealand Study to Work category.
Otago Online MBA
The Otago Online MBA delivers a high-quality MBA programme live over the Internet. Although it is a relatively new programme, it has been highly rated - 24th best worldwide by QS and 4th best by London-based CEO Magazine in 2017. Using our advanced e-learning system, you will be able to attend live weekly lectures, share interactive discussions with your classmates and join in break-out sessions. Classes are held live over the Internet twice a week in the evenings, 7-10pm (New Zealand Time). The online programme is designed to be part-time and will take two-and-a-half years to complete instead of the on-campus 16 months.
The only differences between our online and on-campus programmes are the delivery mechanism and timeframe. Online students study exactly the same curriculum as the on-campus students, submit the same assignments and sit similar examinations. Entry requirements are the same for all our MBA programmes.
