International teaching and industry experience

Barry has spent over 20 years in financial and business roles in New Zealand, Australia, the US and Canada. A good number of these have been with large professional services firms, such as PwC and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, working in advisory, corporate finance and assurance areas. He have also started and continue to own a number of businesses and this commercial experience has been invaluable in making him an excellent advisor and teacher. He currently owns his own boutique accounting and advisory practice focusing on performance, strategy and investment. His clients include large corporates and public sector entities, successful private businesses as well as early stage ventures involved in domestic and international markets.

He has taught in the areas of finance and accounting at master's and postgraduate level, as well as for various professional bodies.

Barry enjoys teaching in the MBA programme partly because of the satisfaction he gets from passing on the knowledge that he has built up over the years. He also enjoys learning about the projects and aspirations of individual students and staying in touch as they become more successful in their chosen fields.
