Jan Parker - A life well lived
Jan started her working life as a nurse aid in Orthopaedics before starting her training in the Medical School as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
A 20 year career in the labs included having four sons, completing several degrees and getting a degree course for Medical Technologists setup. This was followed by 12 years managing surgery in Otago before she was made redundant. She moved to ACC and then the Ministry.
Jan gained several more degrees and in 2000 moved back into the laboratory sector as the Chief Operating Officer for Southern Community Laboratories where she has worked for the past 18 years.
