In this issue we celebrate two significant landmark events for the school: the opening of our new Pacific Office; and the welcome for our kākahu, which was named Te Iti Kahurangi (The Most Treasured) by those present at the dedication and naming ceremony in August.
We highlight the innovative teaching programmes run by staff, who are sparking a love for the sciences in school students, and guiding trainee interns to develop teaching skills themselves.
We also report on recently-funded research programmes which cover a wide range of topics, from the effect of climate change on people’s health, to closing smoking disparities, particularly for Māori and Pacific people.
