Research

My research focuses on the application of viral tracing, immunohistochemistry and molecular biology techniques to address neurobiological questions. These techniques enable me to investigate the underlying neural network controlling reproductive function and fertility. My core research interest focuses on the neural inputs connecting to the key regulators of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis – the arcuate kisspeptin and gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons. In particular, how these neurons relay information about hormonal, nutritional status and environmental changes to regulate the secretion of the gonadotropins critical for sustaining fertility. Insights into these central pathways may be used in treatment of infertility and reproductive disorders.
