Research

I have experience in animal models of cardiovascular and endocrine disease. I have established a novel transgenic mouse model for studying pre-diabetes and pre-cardiovascular disease at the level of the metabolic syndrome. I am also undertaking a genetic association study looking at the relationship between six single nucleotide polymorphisms, type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease in New Zealand.
