Waitangi Day Treaty Festival, February 6th

The Ngai Tahu treaty festival will be held at Otakou Marae on Waitangi Day, 6th February- the festival is open to the public and begins with a powhiri at 10am.

This annual festival is shared between the three marae that were signatories to the Treaty of Waitangi, and will be hosted by Te Runanga o Otakou this year. The festival will feature traditional and contemporary cultural performances, activities for children and a detailed history of the marae.

The theme of this year's festival is "kua takoto te manuka - the leaves of the manuka tree have been laid down".
