A seminar by Otago alumna Dr Jess Hillman from GNS Science.
Legacy seismic data in Te Tai o Rēhua revealed mass transport deposits related to ‘mega-landslide' events buried beneath the seafloor offshore Taranaki.
In the past year two voyages on RV Tangaroa have acquired a wealth of new data in the area, including multibeam bathymetry, high-resolution seismic data and sediment core samples.
This talk will present some of the initial results of these voyages and discuss linkages to other projects investigating submarine landslides and seafloor depressions around Aotearoa New Zealand.
